Arifa & Naadia Khan are from city of lights Karachi and both are our new readers. They sent us an email about Karachi picnic. They writes, they are cousins and best friends. Studying in same college, same class. They love to have fun, going for picnic and doing some naughty acts. In contemporary usage, a picnic can be defined simply as a pleasure excursion at which a meal is eaten outdoors (al fresco or en plein air), ideally taking place in a beautiful landscape such as a park, beside a lake or with an interesting view and possibly at a public event such as before an open air theatre performance, and usually in summer. Their aim is to become successful bankers so they are working hard when it comes to study. In these photos they are visiting a Karachi park (name not known). They specialize in wedding designer dresses. Sabina (on left) told us that Fashion design is the applied art dedicated to clothing and lifestyle accessories created within the cultural and social influences of a specific time. It differs from costume design which is considered to have a built in obsolescence usually of one to two seasons. A season is defined as either autumn/winter or spring/summer.

In past they had worked in a number of ways. Full-time for one fashion company, known as in-house designers, which owns the designs. They may work alone or as part of a team. Freelance designers works for themselves, and sell their designs to fashion houses, directly to shops, or to clothing manufacturers. The garments bear the buyer’s label. But they teamed up lately and set up their own labels, under which their designs are marketed.

A manicure is a cosmetic beauty treatment for the fingernails and hands performed at home or in a nail salon. A manicure treatment is not only a treatment for the natural nails but also for the hands. A manicure consists of filing, shaping of the free edge, treatments, massage of the hand and the application of polish.

Every person has different hair texture and face cut and both these factors together decide upon the styling for that person. Scissors play an important role in giving the right hair style to a person. For example: A good layered cut on a thin face in thick curly hair ill add volume to the face and make the person look attractive and fabulous. Using the right tool like shears will give right volume and right cut to hair. Shears along with scissors help people to have a perfect razor-cut to long and straight hair. However, this is possible only with proper sharpening of styling tools.

Henna (Mehndi) is an important part of Pakistani weddings. There are very intricate designs that are painted on the hands and feet of women in Pakistan with Henna. This tattooing is a way to beautify the woman for a special occasion which is mostly her wedding. There is a special phase in the wedding ceremony, called the Mehndi which spreads over two full days. One day is when the groom applies Henna to his hands and feet though this more symbolical than beautifying; and the second day at bride?s house when it is applied not only to her but all her friends as well. The bride gets her hands and feet done with intricate designs – hands are usually drawn upon until the elbow and feet up to the calf muscles. This is a fun time for all the young unmarried girl friends of the bride.
